The Lifelong Learning Program would like to acknowledge our writing Instructor Johnny Worthen for his recent accomplishments:
Johnny’s adult mystery comedy novel, THE FINGER TRAP, won the Diamond Quill award this year from The League of Utah Writers. The Diamond Quill is a single award given each for the most outstanding highest scoring published book in its annual Writing Contest.
Meanwhile,his young adult novel, CELESTE, THE UNSEEN BOOK 2, won a Bronze “Recommended Read Quill.” (“Not bad for a second book in a trilogy”, says Johnny) The first book ELEANOR, won a Gold Quill for best Young Adult novel of the year when it was released.
The League of Utah Writers was founded in 1935. At 81 years of age it is Utah’s oldest ongoing writing organization with chapters and events spanning the state. Johnny will serve as the elected President of the LUW in 2017.
