After having been almost entirely disconnected from Internet and phones for over a week, our 24 Go Learn Cuba comrades are back on US soil and ready to start a revolution! The energy of Cuba has captured our minds and spirits, and not only because of the mojitos. Over the course of 9 days and without google distractions, Cuba revealed itself to us. Walking through streets filled with vibrant mustangs from the 50’s, rhythmic music around every corner, and the only advertisements are reminders of the revolution, you can’t help but feel like you’ve traveled back in time. It’s the kind of place that makes you believe in human ingenuity. For example, a solution used to take care of stray dogs in the streets is to have businesses employ them. These “working dogs” are kept outside in front of businesses to keep guard and in turn they are fed, given a name tag, and have a place to be. It’s darling. More on that later.
Each day seemed to be better than the last and towards the end of our journey nearly every person made a point to mention how much they enjoyed being a part of trip that provided so much deep thinking. And fun, por supuesto.
Since Internet was not a thing, I will be back tracking with the blog over the next week and will try my best to capture a a fraction of how amazing this was.
But first, check out our own solutions to airport boredom at 10am when we learned we were going to be delayed:
