Today we came through the town of Santo Domingo, named after Domingo, a hermit who dedicated his life to make the Camino safer for pilgrims, to develop roads and build bridges, turning a one-man-show into a prosperous monastery. Job well done Santo Domingo!
His resting place became a holy site in it’s own right. Buried right on the original Camino, his grave and the church built around and on top of it now blocks the Camino and has become one with it. Definitely worth a visit!
